Guest guest
I too was very shocked by the page telling of those who had died, altho some of them died before the surgery. I know that there was a RNY death yesterday also. I don't know what to say about that, except that it's very sad, and my dr told me that it's more likely that I'll live longer WITH the surgery than without it. And my dr is doing many, many tests to see that my body is up to having the surgery. As a pre-op I'm going to tell you what I understand that the diet of a ds'er is. Any post ops (or others) please correct me if I'm wrong...If you make note of how much protein you eat now as I did, you might find that it's 60 to 80 grams a day, the amount to try for post op. Except now, I supplement that protein with carbs, juices, desserts, fruits, etc etc., whatever fits. As a post op, after I eat my protein, (and water) I'm welcome to add whatever fits, just as I do now. Of course the big difference is, a whole lot less will fit! So in essence, if I end up eating as the Atkins diet, only because I'm full and satisfied, that's fine. That's my understanding of it.
