Guest guest
What is BH4????? When you say the " language mutations " - do you mean FoxP2???????? What do you mean by apraxia biomed group? Are there specific genetic tests that can be done for apraxia????????? -- [ ] Re: Yasko genetics I believe Vicky in the apraxia biomed group did. > > I had Yasko genetic testing done on Jon, and he showed to have > the 'language mutations'. Guest guest
What is apraxia RNA???????????? -- [ ] Yasko genetics I had Yasko genetic testing done on Jon, and he showed to have the 'language mutations'. I am curious if anyone else that has children with language issues that also tested with Yasko tend to have the same genetic profile or if this was just coincidence. Also, has anyone tried BH4 or her apraxia RNA with luck? Thank you. Michele
Guest guest
The only mainstream genetics I know to rule out are the celiac genes DQ2 and 8 and the glutensenstivity that seems to really mess with our boys, DQ1. There is an apraxia biomed group on . There I recall Dr. Yasko's genetic tests being done. I know nothing of them except recalling something about one apraxic kid coming up with a microdeltion. Apraxia has many causes. If there is something to this testing it would likely tell you of a genetic predisposition to part of your personal deal with your child. I know nothing of its reliability but have read good things about Dr. Yasko. This is not something I am personally pursuing as my son is less complicated. The group where I heard the discussion is: ApraxiaDyspraxiaBiomedSupport I believe Vicky there was speaking about it. > > > > I had Yasko genetic testing done on Jon, and he showed to have > > the 'language mutations'. Guest guest
Dr. Amy Yasko has a protocol for detox that is a bit different than DAN or homeopathy in that she has you run a genetic panel to look for mutations in your child's methylation pathway and from the mutations she tells you what sort of support you need. It is not 'mainstream' at all (like DAN). You can't actually see doctor Yasko; all of her work is through an online forum and running labs through her office (she looks at the genetics and the labs and suggests supplements). I guess her wait list grew to be about three years from what I heard, and she wanted to find a way for every parent to be able to help their child using her program. The link to find info. is: http://www.holistichealth.com/Welcome.html She has been doing this for years and from what I understand she looks for trends between the genetics and presentation. There are a few genes that are language mutations; I guess the kids with those genes tned to have the most problems with language. I can tell you that my son, who has major language issues, do have these mutations. I find that interesting, but I wonder if that is just coincidence. BH4 is a supplement that is not FDA approved but you can get it from an overseas source or a few doctors in the US. From my understanding my son really needs it to help with language (due to his genetics), but it is supposed to pack a big detox punch and I have not worked up to trying it yet. Like everything else, some people see great gains with Yasko and others don't. But I suppose it is another option to explore if nothing else seems to be working.
