Guest guest
You are so welcome! And you gave ME some important info, too! I also have IBS- and was told that the surgery would improve IBS- looks like not always! I hope if lomotil doesn't help, they'll at least offer one of the IBS drugs. If my questran doesn't work, I'm sure asking in a big hurry about a possible IBS connection to this! THANK YOU!!! Guest guest
Liane, I suffer from IBS also. How does post surgery ummmm, intestinal disturbances compare in your opinion? Thanks, Theresa > > > no- lomotil is diphenoxylate and atropine, while immodium is > > > loperamide. Guest guest
Well Theresa... Let's just say that the last two weeks has compared to a very troubled emotional time for me a few years ago.. except instead of lasting 2 days.. its lasted closer to 10. Hopefully now that I know that my IBS is still a factor, I can act to improve these things. I will say that the Questran, taken at 6:30pm, has already calmed the cramping (dunno how..) and I had <drumroll> a soft formed stool <doing a mental happydance>. Its a very small dose- only half a packet twice daily- but its already made me more comfy. And if my experiences help those behind me, well.... GOOD!!! COS THIS LAST WEEK WAS A PAIN and I don't wish it on anyone. Hugs, Liane > > > > no- lomotil is diphenoxylate and atropine, while immodium is > > > > loperamide. Guest guest
Hi - Yes, it does sound as if everyone's symptoms may be different.. mine usually flared up during stressful/emotional times.. when I'm calm, so too usually is my gut. The crampy waves were something totally new to me this time- usually I cramp, but not so hard or rhythmically! Don't know why the cholestyramine worked, but it has- no cramps for a whole 12+ hours! I'm starting to think that my surgery has triggered body responses I've never had- my first major asthma attack, the spastic intestines from IBS- but then, if they all happen in the beginning & then go away, I'll be tickled <g>. Worth the hassle if its a one-time event. Hmn.. I'm on Paxil.. maybe that's why I hadn't previously experienced this? Who knows- I'm just glad its over for a while so I feel good again!
