Guest guest
Tara- More people will pipe in today but I wanted to give you some advice/pointers. Go to the file section of this group and read the document Kori put together-its the FAB.Doc file. It is full of useful and wonderful information concerning the DBB. With regards to socks-my son wore just your basic carter's socks-minus the grippers and we had no problems. He too has little feet -10months old and in a " 0 " and so the newborn carter's socks came in handy-i just now put some away as he did finally grow out of them. I would recommend taking his shoes off, check for blisters/redmarks, and then put the shoes back on. Make sure the heel is down in the shoe and tighten the strap as much as possible. The strap is the key to keeping the feet in the shoes-laces help-but the middle strap is the key! Also- you can go to the markell website and print a " fit guide " to make sure your son is in the right size shoes(just to give you peace of mind). I like surprising our orthotist at each visit by telling him what shoe size I believe my son is up to(he gets a kick each time I am right!). Hope this helps! Hang in there-the 23/7 time flies by!! Guest guest
My son was also early and his feet were pretty small when he got the shoes. We used socks from Target that were 0 - 3 months. They too were thicker, but didn't pose any problems. The biggest thing is to make sure they have grips, although one of our orthotists said they were bad because they can leave marks on their feet. We've never had a problem with them so I think he was full of it. He just didn't like that we weren't listening to him and weren't having problems doing things our way! If you are very worried about the shoes not fitting, you can always take them off to check, but then put them back on again. It is a pain, but it may ease your mind, and then if there is indeed a problem you'll see it right away. How is your child reacting? Is he screaming like he's in pain, or is he just fussier than usual. That is usually the biggest cue to something wrong so if he's okay, it is likely that the shoes are on correctly. > Hi there, > > Today my son just got out of his last (3 week) cast. Guest guest
Hi Tara, Wanted to mention this because it happened to me.. Livi had very small feet and was started off in 000 Markells. If I'm remembering this correctly, Markell makes 0000's which are even smaller. We were unsuccessful at first in keeping the shoes on - doc said Livi's feet were too small and recast her. But then I found out there were smaller shoes. Our lame ortho department has never been on top of things - they could have gotten us smaller shoes. It doesn't sound like you've been having problems keeping his feet in the shoes, so that info may be totally irrelevant. If it is, just ignore me!
