Hello everyone,

I am a new member of the group. I need some info before my surgery

and this is the only place that I can get it.

First, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Mia. I am 43

years old and I live in Staten Island, NY. I am 5'8 " and weigh 310

lbs (ugh!!).

I have been researching WLS for awhile and finally decided to go for

it. I decided to go with the Docs at Mt. Sinai, because from what I

have heard and read, they are the best.

I originally made an appointment in April for Dr. Gagner, and was

scheduled for Oct 3. I was not a happy camper. I had researched the

surgery for many months and now that I finally decided to do it I had

to wait another 6 months to see him!...

Anyway, someone told me to make an appointment with Dr. Pomp since

his schedule is not as busy. I did that and met with him on July

30. I thought he was nice, although he did try to switch me from the

BPD/DS to the RNY ( I don't know why) so I came online again and did

more research to decide which surgery I thought would be best for

me.

I decided on the BPD/DS and his nurse Irene scheduled me for surgery

on October 29.

I am really scared and nervous about the surgery as I'm sure most of

you were. But what worries me more is that I don't know as much as I

would like to know about Dr. Pomp. I am sure he is also a very

skilled surgeon. But I have heard so much about Dr. Gagner and Dr.

Herron, and not much at all about Dr. Pomp.

I need to hear from some of his patients. If you are a patient of

Dr. Pomp's and had BPD/DS surgery, could you please e-mail me and

tell me about your experience with him? I really need to feel

confident about my surgeon, I'm sure you all understand what I mean.

Please e-mail me with responses to this post at my aol address so

that I do not take up any more space on the message board.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post and I

appreciate any help that anyone out here can give me.

Mia
