Don't know the answer to that one, but there are different types of

vanilla extract. Some have alcohol and some do not. Some have

additives, and some do not. The answer may depend on the one used. I

use the Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Extract and also their vanilla bean

paste. Both are excellent and all natural, but very expensive. (I can

buy them at the grocery store or -Sonoma. Price is actually

fair at W-S.)

Frontier is the brand I use. They have one clearly marked Alcohol

free and it is all natural (about $8 @ Whole Foods). Most vanilla

extract is about 35% alcohol ;(
