Guest guest
Hi Everyone, So, after 7 days of misery and some very *sage* advice, I not only emailed Dr Pomp about the upper abdominal pain and discomfort I had been feeling, I also called his office. I spoke with him Tuesday evening and he said what I had been experiencing (at least the way I described it) did not sound typical. Since he knew I " wasn't a complainer " (his words, my dh would probably not agree!) he thought I should go get some blood tests done locally to rule out some of the more serious potential complications. I awoke Wed am and the pain came on quite strongly. I was uncomfortable but ate breakfast anyway figuring if the pain was in full force when I had my bloodwork, something unusual would be more likely to show up in the blood tests! Surprisingly, over the next 2 hours, the pain kind of dissipated. Before I left the house, in one last attemp to bring it on, I had about 2/3 cup of hamburger helper leftovers (that had set me off in a big way 2 nights before!) But the pain did not come. I had my blood drawn later yesterday morning and then went with my dh to do some errands and topped off my day by having a tooth filling replaced. The pain did not come after mac & cheese for lunch or a hotdog ( & bun) for dinner! Nor did it come the next morning (today) after chicken cordon bleu for breakfast! It's been over 24 hours, relatively pain free!! Don't get me wrong, I still get my moments of discomfort; rumblings & grumblings of a mid to lower intestinal variety that send me to the bathroom where the natural course of events soon follow. But this is all tolerable, doesn't last long and was pretty much what I expected things would be like, post-op. So, I do not yet know what the bloodwork will reveal, if anything. I will call in the am for the results - will let everyone know if anything is " off " . For the time being, I am feeling quite well and I hope this is the end of whatever THAT was last week! I hope to get re-caught-up on my emails and list news over the next few days. I wanted to thank all of you who offered suggestions and support in my time of need. I was really glad to have such a support network I could go to with my questions and concerns. This is definitely an example of what a positive impact these list groups can have! Anyway, thank you for being *here*! Fondly, Terri Hassiak BMI 61.8 http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/profile.phtml?N=H980366398 Appealed " Out-of-Network " Ins. Denial - AND WON!!! Guest guest
Terri- I totally relate to how you feel as I had a little post-op complication(an infection that caused an obstruction at the anastamosis between stomach and intestines). I thought I was going to die every time I tried to take a drink. Now, a week after being readmitted for the infection I am doing amazingly better and feel so normal again. It is such a huge relief! So I am so glad you are feeling better! It is awful when you can't eat (or drink in my case) anything without severe pain! Take care! Amy Y.
