organizing meds (and parties!)

Debbie, that's why I started doing 2 weeks at a time, then 4, because it doesn't take much longer to fill 2 or 4 pill bins as one. I've mentioned before that I keep my med list in my computer so that it's easy to update it. I have a separate list for the lockbox where I keep my meds. It lists the morning & evening meds, because my regular med list also has the prn (as needed) meds, plus the Pred & other immune-suppressants that have been discontinued. That way all my docs have the dates I took those drugs, because I get mixed up when one of them asked me, now how long have you been off the Prednisone?

I'm still trying to get some help with my mom's meds. We're on a waiting list for a local agency called Lifestream that provides services to keep people in their homes. I hope it won't take long, because I can't keep her meds straight. If she would just let me go in & do them like I do mine, it would be okay, but she insists on her own system & then gets them mixed up. My cousin Lulu will be here for a few days for Mom's birthday party, and I'm hoping we can get it straightened out then. Mom gets so hostile at any suggestion that she has even a bit of dementia, but I know that she'll be in a great mood after this surprise party, so maybe that will be a good time to do it. Lulu will get in Fri. evening, my brother on Sat. morning, my granddaughters from San at noon on Saturday, and Mom still doesn't know anything about it! Brad (my son), & and I are taking her out for dinner on Thursday, her actual birthday, so she doesn't think we forgot about it. I still don't know how I'm going to explain all this weekend company to her; I'm counting on the Alzheimer's to keep her from getting suspicious. Yikes; I've got so much to do this week. My niece & are going to help me get the house straightened up so that everyone has a place to sleep. Luckily, & a (grand-daughters from San ) will only be here Sat & Sun nights. Well, guess I'd better finish my email & enjoy the few hours left on my "day of rest."

Hi Terri,

What I do is keep a list of my meds so I can refer to them when I fill my pillbox. As I go down the list, I put each of the meds in one at a time. That's the way I keep track of what goes into the box and where. Otherwise, I would forget one or another. I take nine types of medication each day, so I need a list to keep track. Isn't it fun to do this once a week? LOL Debbie Co-Moderatormosaicgirl1 <mosaicgirl1 (AT) yahoo (DOT) com> wrote:
