Guest guest
THIS IS NOT A SCAM! I know, I know, the old saying that if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. This is the exception. How many of y'all know that most states have websites listing unclaimed property, such as rent deposits, credits from businesses, etc? A couple of years ago, after reading about Indiana's program, I looked to see if I had any money coming to me. No, of course not. But I had used my full name, Roselynn. My daughter Theresa called me tonight. She & her boyfriend had been looking up everyone they knew, and I have $73 owed to me, but it was under Rose! I had an alarm system at my previous home & apparently had a credit coming. So I've spent the past hour or so checking every state I've lived in as an adult, using every name & nickname I could think of. No more hits for me, but I thought I'd pass the info along, in case one of you has money out there. This is a legitimate program, not a sting to catch those of you who haven't paid your parking tickets. The Indiana website is www.indianaunclaimed.com and for Texas it's http://www.window.state.tx.us/up/. There is a national database that lists about 35 states' info, along with a map for those states that aren't in the national database. For instance, California is not in the national database, but if you click on California, you'll get the site for California's unclaimed property program. We even found my other daughter Ginny's husband (separated for 2 years) in the Texas list--he's got $160 coming. Give it a try; heck, even $73 is going to come in handy for me. Theresa is demanding a 10% finder's fee. What do you think? It'll buy her a couple of gallons of gas to bring my grandkids up here to see me! Ramblin' Rose Moderator A merry heart is good medicine.
