Ok - so I went to starbucks yesterday. Just had a taste for coffee and I ordered a non-fact, decaf latte. That's ok for me to have right? I felt fine drinking it although I didn't even come close to finishing it - but I just wanted to make sure I should be having it before I do it again!

Thanks!

Barbara There are things to consider with the Starbucks so soon. Did you take an hour to sip it? Did you drink it faster? Your not that far out and you need to remember not to put to much in yet. Also the extra calories, I know you don't eat a lot yet and you keep track on fit-day, but as time goes by your food will increase. So will the calories increase and do you really need these extra calories while you have a ways to go before you get to goal? If things get to easy to have to early on, it will be harder and harder to get to goal and make this WLS work for you. So my advice to you is stop now, or just once in a while, the things we don't try we don't have to have so much once you start giving in the more you will. Stay strong and on track this is a life long journey. Take care. Donna "Hokoana, Barbara" wrote: Ok - so I went to starbucks yesterday. Thanks Donna,

That was pretty much what I was looking to hear. I looked it up and it only had 120 calories and I know for sure I didnt even drink half of it and yes I sipped the whole time. When I drank it I was thinking of it as a treat. Something I can "go out" to do other than eat. I want this weight to come off as quickly and easily as possible and STAY THAT WAY. I don't want to have to battle it later on because I made poor choices in the beginning.

Thanks for your support!

Barbara

I have non-fat, decaf lattes quite frequently. Different people have

different opinions about it. I have no problems with them and they

don't keep me from losing weight. It's actually my " breakfast " because

I don't tolerate food in the morning, even taking my protonics.

I can't remember how far you are post-op...some people are lactose

intolerant right after surgery. If it doesn't bother you, then I say

it is completely fine.

Thanks Tina. I am almost 4 weeks post-op and it gave me no problems to drink it - I know I should have protein, but like you I have so many problems tolerating "food" in the morning. Even though Kaiser Richmond isnt a fan of protein shakes I think I am going to try those in the morning and see if I can tolerate that.

I wonder why Richmond Kaiser is so against the protein drinks. Kaiser in SSF is for them. They tell us that if your not going to have time to eat a meal to at least have a protein drink. I just had my Lifesyle 3 class and this is the subject they talked about. "Hokoana, Barbara" wrote: Thanks Tina. Yes, you are right, Richmond doesn't like protein shakes. You'll

find lots of heated discussions on that. There is lots of evidence

to support protein shakes are needed. I, myself, did protein shakes

for breakfast for quite some time (I went through Richmond too). I

just can't tolerate food in the morning. I know Dr. Baggs said he

would rather have me do a protein bar versus a protein shake but I

couldn't tolerate those either. Things are much better now but

breakfast is still the most difficult meal of the day.

Keep up the good work!
