Guest guest
I think it means "not otherwise specified", something like that. e NOS definition ??? For the first time Dr. Whiteman used the term NOS in Asenath's diagnosis. I have heard this group talk about PDD-NOS but am not sure exactly what NOS means specifically. I have tried to research for its definition but cannot find it separate from other words. Any help is greatly appreciated. :)See www.caringbridge.org/ia/mitomomof9 and this link to see a real look into Mito using a photo collage of my girls at www.heartbeatsformito.orgDarla: mommy toAsenath (4) Mito, CNS Vasculitis, strokes, migraines, seizures, G-tube, hypotonicity, disautonomy, SID, dev. delays, asthma, cyclic vomiting...Zipporrah (12 months) Mito, strokes, neuro-motor planning dysfunction, SID, GERD, 100% G-tube fed, asthma, trach issues, aberrant subclavian artery, disautonomy, hypo & hypertonicity, migraines, possible seizures, dumping syndrome, iron deficiency...Luke (16), Leah (14), Rachael (12), Isaac (10), Tirzah (8), Kezia (3), & Marquis (2) (some with Mito symptoms)
Guest guest
NOS usually means Not Otherwise Specified. PDD-NOS is Pervasive Developmental Disorder, Not Otherwise Specified. It's defined in the DSM-IV-R (I think that's the current edition. It might just be DSM IV). I found a copy of this at the local library but could probably find a copy to type in for you if you want. Basically it means that there's a pervasive developmental disorder but the symptoms don't exactly fit into any of the other specific definitions in that section like Autism or ADD (I think ADD is in that section). Guest guest
By the way, I assume NOS can be used for other things besides PDD so if he didn't specifically mention that then it could go with something else - like, for instance, mitochondrial disorder, not otherwise specified. Guest guest
Thanks for the help. I was wondering if it meant something like non-specified. He wrote Metabolic disorder, NOS and I thought he might have meant that the specific type was unknown.
