Sorry to be so tardy in reporting back ... it has been a rough week. Well

.... I was hoping for a miracle, and a miracle of sorts did happen. Dr Mosca

got to see that the imballance in Kai's ankle/foot comes and goes with

growth, so is leaning away from the ATTT again (thank goodness, since I dont

believe it is necessary)! He also listened to us, and witnessed the cavus,

and agreed that not being able to wear shoes - especially with winter coming

on! - was not a good thing. So, Kai is now in his SEVENTH set of casting.

This has to be some kind of record for correctly applied Ponseti Method. Dr

M did get a really good downward mold on the arch - enough that Kai was

uncomfortable for a day or so - and we are reservedly hopeful for nice

correction. We know it will be more than one cast, but what we dont know is

if it will stay this time. At this point I am losing hope that the cavus is

EVER going to stop recurring. Kai will be 3 on New Year's Eve ... and even

when he wore the brace dilligently, this kept coming back :-(

I plan to write to Dr Ponseti to see what he thinks ... I am beginning to

think that lengthening the plantar ligament might be the way to go for

permanent correction. Anyway, we go back in 2 weeks for a new cast. Kai is

old enough now to pick what color he wants, and he actually likes the cast

(strange kid lol) so that is something at least!
