Guest guest
I was reading the clubfoot board and I saw mention Dr. Dobbs @ Shriners I think in Missouri?...can't remember. And it just popped a questoin in my head here... we were accepted to Shriners in Philadelphia, and even though we don't go there anymore, I think we are still approved to go and take him until like age 18. Does that mean he is approved for all Shriners or just the Philadelphia one. Also I here Dr. Dobb's name a lot is he up there as one of the really great ponseti method doctors that follows it correctly, etc? I always here Dr. Herzenberg & Ponseti's names the most? I was just thinking if he was as great as Dr. Ponseti and Dr. H then we could maybe just take angel flights there, etc and not have to worry about insurance because we have been accepted to Shriners in Philadelphia a few years back....I'm just trying to think of other options just in case. But I did appeal the denial yesterday verbally. We will probably go no matter what at this point but it would make me feel better to know we have options, etc. Why do some Shriners really do the Ponseti method and other like Philadelphia one not do it exactly they kind of do their own version, etc. Michele Collin's story at http://www.geocities.com/chele323232
Guest guest
Michele, Excellent idea. I believe Dr. Dobbs to be one of the very best, obviously Dr. Ponseti himself is the master, but I think Dr. Dobbs is right up there with Dr. Herzenberg. Dobbs worked side by side w/ Ponseti for 7 years. And yes, he does practice at the Shriners here in St. Louis Missouri. I am not 100% how the Shriners do their applications but it is very simple to apply to our shriners you can fill out the " application " over the phone or even online if you are not already approved to go there from your previous acceptance in Philly. > I was reading the clubfoot board and I saw mention Dr. Dobbs @ > Shriners I think in Missouri?...can't remember. Guest guest
, Dr. Dobbs is my doctor for my son Grant. He has been is an excellent Dr. so far and very personable. He helped design a new brace for clubfoot patents that allows the feet to move independently. He is very active in finding the gene that causes the abnormality. I see him at St. Louis Children's hosiptal, so I am also not sure about the insurance. But I can vouch for his expertise. My son is in his 4th month and doing GREAT. No problem with the casting and no problems with the brace. I smile every time he kicks his feet and thank God that a newer brace was designed. -missy > > I was reading the clubfoot board and I saw mention Dr. Dobbs @ > > Shriners I think in Missouri?...can't remember. Guest guest
Michele, I think you should go to Ponseti at this point. I think Dr. Dobbs and Dr.H are equally great, and since you already see Dr. H, the next best thing is the Master himself. Just my 2 cents.
