Guest guest
Hi You Wise Ones Who've Gone Before~ I have some rather delicate questions to ask about my bowel habits since my surgery. Mind you, I'm not alamed, ill, frightened; just a little bewildered and find that I do better when I know what to expect. Since surgery, 10 days ago, my bowels have been like fire hydrants turned wide open. I can only compare this to the very extreme all-day bowel prep I undertook the day before surgery. The only relief I can find from this is through the use of prescription strength immodium AD. I find that I must use at least 3 separate dosages to deactivate the water-works. This stop-gap works for 1-2 days. Then, I have slightly normal BM's for several hours, culminating in the water-works again. I had hoped that just stopping the action once would re-set my bowels so to speak but apparently, that is not so. What I want to know is this: Is losing this much fluid, this quickly normal 10 days post-op and if so, for how long? I'm just wanting to know what to expect. Second, does this sound like something that I should be seeking alternate solutions for from my surgeon? Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks, gobo PS I've lost 18-1/2 pounds and I keep thinking this is all the water I'm losing. You think?
