Miralax would be for the constipation. My daughter is 5 yrs old and she has always had problems with constipation. We went the natural route, then miralax and a bunch of other before we were prescribed Kristalose (10 grams) per day and it works for her. As for her delayed gastric emptying she was just diagnosed with this and is taking Reglan.

Has he had a gastric emptying study done? I wish I could be of more help, but the delayed emptying is new for us so I don't know if there are other meds to treat it. I am sure someone else here will be able to help you. Good luck.

We give our son Mira Lax by doctors recommendation, (he can't take Reglan), but if our son has delayed gastric emptying, why should we be giving him a laxative everyday? (I am thinking out loud here). Our son has pain in his stomach towards the end of his meal, which increases or happens faster if he drinks fluids along with his meal. I would think his body needs something to help push things through since it is moving through so slowly.Just curious if anyone has tried this at all, or even if it is OK for kids to consume psyllium daily. Thanks for any insights, ShirleyPlease contact mito-owner with any problems or questions.

We used Milk of Magnesia for my son when he was constipated and then

Miralax. My son isn't constipated anymore because he's tube fed

(liquids only). But when he was constipated we did give him Miralax

daily. It did seem to make him a little more " regular " but I don't

recall him having a bm every day. When we didn't give him the

Miralax regularly we needed to give him an enema. My son had also

taken Reglan but had to be taken off because it increased his

seizures.

My son still has delayed emptying and takes Erythromycin. That seems

to help. HTH
