RE:fluids and food after surgery

I too was Dr. Anthone's patient. Unless he is doing thing

dramatically different this was the schedule: Nothing by mouth till the

leak test on Tues following Friday surgery. Liquids only Tues through Wed

afternoon. Soft food till lunch on Thurs. First real food at Thurs

day lunch. What a change. One small bite and I was full and

satisfied. Thank heaven for the feeding tube since that was how I got

fluids after they removed the IV on Tues. I used it whenever I started to

feel really thirsty. That was a real comfort measure to not ever worry

about being thirsty.
