Guest guest
: My 2 boys have central lines - broviacs. They tend to put broviacs in kids and hickmans in adults but basically the same exact thing. My boys have had theirs about 5 years - ever since they became TPN dependent. Sam is 7 and Zachary is 12 and you can read more about them at www.caringbridge.org/wi/zachsamTPN has kept them alive although it certainly has huge risks. I think the best way for you to learn more about CVLs and TPN is to join our TPN list. It is a Yahoo email list and there are several young adults on it as well as parents of children who are on TPN. It is a pretty small group though lately it is getting bigger and the interesting thing is that many of our newsest members either have mitochondrial disease themselves or are the parent of a child with mito. It tends to be a very chatty group and often off topic -we've known each other for years - so you may want to be on digest if you don't want lost of mail all day. BUT they are the most informative bunch in the world. I think you can go to this address to subscribe. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/tpnsupport/ Anne
