Hi I wrote before about having the prox. rny and stopped losing

weight after 6months. I plateaued alot, then started eating some

sugars and carbs. and noted some increases in my blood sugars. I had

to increase my diabetic medicine which increase my weight about 15

lbs. Not to mention out of control blood sugars, once again. So I

am faced with the same scenario as before, that i will probably take

insulin unless I lose a significant amount of weight. My bmi was 41

and now it is 37,38. I have lost about 7 of the 23 lbs. I had gained

so quickly. I have 2 kids 5 and 7 and want to continue enying my

life with them and my husband. I had written to Dr.'s Ren and Gagner

who both explained what type of surg. they could do for me. They

could go from the proximal rny and revise it to a distal rny or

distal gastric bypass. I know their were some question about the

distal rny being the same as the distal gastric bypass. I re-wrote

to Dr. Ren who said my prox. rny would be revised to the distal rny

which is the same as the distal gastric bypass. I would still keep

my pouch but I would have the malabsorption to lose more weight. I

read one post that mentioned that a person should not go into this

wls thinking of a revision if things don't work.. I would prefer not

to have surg. if it wasn't for my co-morbide. I know where I made my

mistakes and wls is truly a TOOL. Whatever happens I am enjoying my

life more than ever before. But I am fully aware of the potential and

deadly side effects associated with diabetes. Therefore i must weigh

my options. But I wish the best to any person who undergoes weight

loss surgury whether Ds or Rny. The availability of the DS surgery

in my state was not their in 99. If I knew what I know now I feel

the DS would have been the better surg for me and my health

problems. But I thank God for giving me this wonderful opportunity

to have undergone surg. successfully and improved my health.

Whatever road I wander on I want to use overeater's annoymous, or

weighdown workshop or continue couseling for a healthy food

relationship. If there is anyone out there who had a prox. rny

revised to the distal rny/distal gastric bypass please write me

personally. Thanks a bunch. And good luck to all the pre-ops and

post-ops and whatever surgery you chose. Heidi
