Lap procedures for those with BMI > 60

Hi,

I just read an abstract from the 2001 meeting of the ASBS. The title

is " Super Massive Obesity is not a contraindication to laprascopic

Roux-en-Y gastric bypass " .

Strange thing is, despite the title, the abstract eeports of

complications in 11 out of 24 patients or almost 50%, though only 2

were said to be " major " (8%).

Those odds do sound good to me. And the DS is even more complicated

to do then the RNY.

So I say if your BMI>60 then do it open.
