Guest guest
I have sad news from the AMOS site --- A fellow DSer, Larry Young, passed away this morning. He was in the ICU after surgery for awhile and developed a wound infection. He was Dr. Husted's first BPD/DS. I am so upset everytime I read that someone has passed away from the surgery. He was a large man with a bmi of 88.1 and he was on the path to recovery. It is so sad to read his surgery comments and reports that he's on clear liquids, able to get out of the chair and walk a few steps, get his respirator out, etc. and then this. Here was Diane's latest post from this morning: ___________________________________ 08/09 05:29 AM I don't know how to say this so I will just let you all know Larry passed away this moring. He was having some breathing difficulties and we called Dr.husted in to see us at 1 am.... he ordered blood gasses which came out fine...shortly there after Larry started turning blue...the staff on the 5th floor worked on him for nearly an hour but he was allready gone. There is so much more I could write but I am really hurting....God gave me an angel.... ~Dianne (Larrys wife) -- Larry Young ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I'm sure his wife Diane would love any kind of support from others on the list. I don't think Larry was particularly active ont he DS list -- His surgeon decided that the DS would be better for him than a fobi pouch and changed procedures (with Larry's knowledge and consent, of course) soon before the surgery. So, I don't think he had any time to get connected here. God Bless you, Larry and my heart goes out to his wife and family. If anyone is interested in finding out more about Larry and/or posting sympathy messages to his surgery page on AMOS (Association for Morbid Obesity Support), here's the link: http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/profile.phtml?N=Y987203084 And, here is Diane and Larry's e-mail: e-mail: YOUNG.DIANNELARRY@... All the best to everyone, Noverr-Chin co-moderator, duodenalswitch Dr. Gagner/Mt. Sinai/NYC January 25, 2001 six months post-op and still feelin' fabu! pre-op: 307lbs/bmi 45 (5' 9 1/2 " ) now: 228 (and holding...)
