Guest guest
I have had surgery while on Metotrexate, I didn’t have to stop it, in fact when I do have surgery the doctor does a pre dose of steroids, then keeps me on the steroids for a couple days to make sure my body doesn’t have a problem with the surgery. So my guess is no, as long as your liver tests are normal. As you know I started MTX recently and am up to 6 pills Q week. My problem is I just found out I will need to have surgery soon. I had a diskectomy with an anterior fussion at c5-6 in Oct 2007. At my 12 week follow up I found out that the plate and screws have moved and will need to come out. We are giving it another 6 weeks in hopes that the fusion will be stronge enought to hold on its own, if not they will have to create a larger fusion and I may end up with the same problem. My question is do I need to stop taking the MTX since I will be having more surgery? I had my blood work done on Friday and everything looks good. Thanks again for you help!
