Guest guest
Debbie, I knew something was up with you-- and thank you for letting us know-- you are missed when we don't hear from you. I just got back from 4 wonderful days on the coast-- it was beautiful, we had snow and sleet on the drive over, but the roads stayed clear. There was a rockslide on the main hwy over, but it waited until we got thru!! Otherwise, we'd have had to back track a couple of hundred miles... The trees were gorgeous-- snow looked like whipcream on the branches and the outlines were awesome. We knew we were headed into a storm on the way over, and it was just the last 30 miles that we encountered rain. Thurs was sunshine, took his bicycle with us, so he went for a 25 mile ride up the coast hwy, and I caught a 2 hr nap before I left to go pick him up. We met up at Gold Beach and sat and watched the largest herd of Roosevelt Elk-- there is generally 40 to 50 of them at this location, and they hang out in this meadow, surrounded by some of the largest redwood trees you will ever see! Magnificient! I drove up the road another couple of miles, and hung around at the gift shop/museam at Prairie Creek State Park, waiting for him. Had a great conversation with the woman that works as the curator. Friday we wandered the old town of Eureka, they have the funkiest shops, and we scored some nice beads and agates and such for my jewelry making. The eateries were wonderful, Italian one night, a small home style eatery for a wonderful bread bowl of clam chowder (complete with sand in the clams) and then over to the local casino for Steak and seafood fettucini, YUMMY!!!! We spent some of our day sitting in the B & B listening to the stormy sea, and this morning, the sun was shining, the rocks below had huge seals and sealions laying around, barking at each other. Too pretty!! It was so wonderful to smell the richness of the old growth forest, I would so love to live up there-- but unfortunately, there is no jobs. Tues. I will see my GP and figure out what is going on with my heart-- I'll be checking in off and on. Love to you all, TracieStart the year off right. Easy ways to stay in shape in the new year.
