High platelets mean inflammation. Evan sometimes has high platelets

and my nephew with Crohn's had platelets over 900 (900,000) when he

was inpatient at Cleveland Clinic last year.

Those notes on the immune system came from Dr. Jane El-Dahr who is an

immunologist at Tulane. I have know her for almost 10 years and she

is great at explaining immunology in terms that parent can understand.

Platelets are involved in clotting. I have not seen them as an indication of

inflammation. My children have platelet aggregation issues. They have a

clotting disorder called von Willebrand's disease. I have noticed that several

other mito families also have clotting issues.
