I've been mulling over the DMG stuff as it was on my mind prior to

this discussion. Reading the posts I am a little annoyed at my hubby

for saying it was safe. Since he has the flu (yes, the flu...do you

believe it!) I won't be bothering him about this just yet. He is a

research scientist and has access to journals so there may be more to

his statement. If there is I will post. Also, back when I asked him

DMG was a small part of a multi I was considering. It may have been

such a small dose that he was correct. I did want to mention this:

The little reading I have done states it helps with liver cleansing.

Many things do that like vitamin C. High doses of vitamin C have been

linked to cancer according to Dr. Furhman which is why I no longer

take that. I was taking it after my amalgam was removed this summer

at the direction of my dentist and still took less than she said. I

have also taken GSE for liver stuff, organic, not the stuff that is

supposed to contain ammonia. Still, while it cured what ailed me at

the time I showed up high in ammonia on bloodwork.

Colleen is having success with this with Charlie, his weight and

growth are stable and she is using it along with other nutritional,

medical and therapeutic supports. The regimen she is using is

tailored to his specific needs. I think when taking on this stuff

that is the way to go so as not to solve one problem and start

another.

The DMG studies that cast a negative light seem to relate to high

doses and are on adults. A lot of focus is on elite athletes who

likely take other liver-damaging stuff to excess. Still, since there

is likely no standard dose has been studied on kids for obvious

reasons there are risks.

Lastly, I have a general rule living here in the northeast. I won't

do any big changes until summer when we can all get out there and get

our vitamin D fix and preserve/heal our livers.

Just my 2 cents.
