Guest guest
Starting a new thread to correct some DMG information. I am quoting directly from Jon Pangborn's book http://www.amazon.com/Autism-Biomedical-Treatments-Everything-Individual\ ity/dp/0974036099/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8 & s=books & qid=1199603371 & sr=1-1 <http://www.amazon.com/Autism-Biomedical-Treatments-Everything-Individua\ lity/dp/0974036099/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8 & s=books & qid=1199603371 & sr=1-1> · DMG provides chemical parts needed for folate to do its many jobs · For autism, relatively high doses of DMG can have positive results for speech and eye contact; the data set is anecdotal but huge, n=5000. · Start with low trial doses. Dimethylglycine is the amino acid glycine with two attached methyls that can be given away. When DMG gives away the first methyl, it becomes sarcosine, and the donated methyl can add onto tetrahydrofolate (THF). ...... Many clinicians have reported elevation of folate in blood serum for some autistics. Irritability, hyperactivity and stimming are reported to increase when these same individuals supplement folate.... Conjectured is a block or " trap' in folate metabolism, a situation where folate accumulates in some form because a needed helping nutrient, cofactor, or enzyme is inadequate. Also postulated is poor transport of folate from serum into cells with some anecdotal reports indicating low RBC folate. But when DMG is supplemented, we have a huge number of reports about reduced irritability, hyperactivity and stimming, and the beginnings of improvement in speech. In fact, improved behavior and/or speech is reported in over 40% of autistics per nearly 5000 parent response to ARI.
