Guest guest
Many of you may already be familiar with this condition, but today is the first time I've heard of it. My little hometown paper had an article on it. Chemobrain or chemofog is memory loss & cognitive dysfunction resulting from treatment with cancer drugs. It can be mild or severe, resolve fairly quickly or persist. My favorite quote in the article is the following: For years, the condition that has come to be known as "chemobrain" was mostly an anecdotal phenomenon, talked about in cancer support groups, but not taken too seriously by the medical field. But doctors are finding it harder to be in denial about the malady. Sounds familiar, doesn't it? I found many websites & articles by typing in chemobrain on my search engine (I use Dogpile, BTW. I love the name & it's very thorough. Plus the little doggie is cute!) Anyway, one article mentioned the use of Focalin; the study showed definite improvement in fatigue & possibly some in memory. The study was done by Dr. Elyse Lower, who is Dr. Bob Baughman's wife. Baughman is the one who suggested I try the Focalin. I have seen noticeable improvement in fatigue; not sure about memory, although I am making fewer errors in typing! Anyway, I've given one excellent link on chemobrain. If you want to read Dr. Lower's article, it's on the Nat. Cancer Institute website. In my search results, it was right under this link. http://www.chemobraininfo.org/ Ramblin' Rose Moderator A merry heart is good medicine. Proverbs 17:22 A place for moms to take a break!
