Guest guest
Rosie.. to be honest, they have no idea why it started.. first they thought it was because the surgery unbalanced the good vs bad bacteria in my gut, so I took Flagyl. Then they said I must be sensitive to dairy or gluten, so I cut those out. Then the gut was " just stressed & needed a rest " , so I was put on clear liquids for 2 weeks. I was told to eat only when hungry.. then told eat 1/2 cup every 2-3 hours.. then told no acidy foods, caffeine, etc. None of these things helped. They put me on Questran.. no change. Truthfully, I have a suspicion that I know what the problem really is, & its only related to the surgery slightly.. & would not be an issue for most folks considering the surgery.. but I'm not sharing my thoughts until I discuss them with my PCP and surgeon. I am not a " normal " postop.. this is NOT a common thing, so don't let my experiences put you off the DS. If I had to go back, I'd still have it done again.. this is a freak situation. Hope I've answered your wondering..
