Rosie..

to be honest, they have no idea why it started.. first they thought it

was because the surgery unbalanced the good vs bad bacteria in my gut,

so I took Flagyl. Then they said I must be sensitive to dairy or

gluten, so I cut those out. Then the gut was " just stressed & needed a

rest " , so I was put on clear liquids for 2 weeks. I was told to eat

only when hungry.. then told eat 1/2 cup every 2-3 hours.. then told

no acidy foods, caffeine, etc. None of these things helped. They put

me on Questran.. no change.

Truthfully, I have a suspicion that I know what the problem really is,

& its only related to the surgery slightly.. & would not be an issue

for most folks considering the surgery.. but I'm not sharing my

thoughts until I discuss them with my PCP and surgeon.

I am not a " normal " postop.. this is NOT a common thing, so don't let

my experiences put you off the DS. If I had to go back, I'd still have

it done again.. this is a freak situation.

Hope I've answered your wondering..

Hugs,

Liane
