Guest guest
It's that time of year again! I've decided to train for the 2006 San Francisco Marathon, which will take place on July 30, 2006. Last year, I ran 13.1 miles to complete the Half Marathon. The National AIDS Marathon Training Program was such a great experience that I fell in love with running. This year I will train to complete the Full Marathon—26.2 miles!! With your help I can make this dream come true. I've been so blessed to have lost 153 lbs. I now have the precious gift of health—no more diabetes, high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, acid reflux or joint aches. But not everyone is blessed with health. In fact, approximately 1 in every 50 San Franciscans is living with HIV/AIDS. So the money I raise will benefit the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. Donations will support HIV services and prevention programs in Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties—to help keep people alive until there's a cure. A portion of the funds will also support treatment access in the developing world. From February until July, I'll be logging nearly 500 miles in this six-month training program put on by the National AIDS Marathon. It's an exciting journey. And even though I'll be getting up at the crack of dawn, and I may have my share of aches and pains, I know it will be worth it. This is such a worthy cause, and I would like to ask for your support. I have made a personal commitment to raise at least $1,700 by Sunday, April 28, 2006—and I hope to raise even more. Any contribution you can make would mean a great deal to me. Contributions are tax-deductible and will make a huge difference in the lives of thousands of people living with AIDS. Sponsor me at: www.aidsmarathon.com (I'm runner #6010) or print out a donor form (found in Files section) and sponsor me by check. Thanks for your generous support. Sincerely, Francisco
