Guest guest
Nephrolithiasis. Isn't that a neat sounding word? Trust me, you do NOT want it! It's medicalese for kidney stones. Yesterday was excruciating. If you've ever had a gall bladder attack, the pain reminded me of that. I could NOT get comfortable! Posted yesterday evening to a couple of the groups I'm on, stating that I was going to be going to the hospital as soon as hubby got home and a friend got here to take care of Isaac. I asked for advice as to what to suggest the doc look for/at. One person (a nice guy (!) named Steve) said it sounded to him like I was working on a kidney stone. Long story short, looks like he was right. Had a miserable night last night, in spite of the vicodin. Pain at times was about 8 on a 1-10 scale! Around eleven this morning, the pain went away. I guess the rock moved along, although I've been checking my urine to try to catch the rock so it can be analyzed. Haven't found the rock, but if I do, I'm gonna name it Steve! ANYWAY, you know how we're always being told to drink our water? BELIEVE IT! You do NOT want a kidney stone! Grab the water and drink. Drink some more! Drink until your eyeballs are floating! Guest guest
I used to get kidney stones when I was in my twenties, and it has always been THE standard of pain for me. I used to say that normal people drank when they were thirsty, but I would drink when I was anywhere within a mile of water, just to not get a stone. Randy > > Nephrolithiasis. Guest guest
Eleanor I one who said drink the water because WLS people have more of a chance of getting kidney stones. Before I started my journey for WLS I had 11 (YES 11) kidney stones and believe me it took six months of the terrible pain and then the doctor still had to go in and get a big one that could not come out and if you get blockage urine backs up and you can mess up your kidneys, after the procedure I had to wear a stint so I could pee for a few weeks. Lets talk about NO FUN, it hurts like hell. That's why I say don't slack on the water people. Take care. I hope your stone is gone by now, and they can be round or thorny, the round hurt when they are moving, but the thorny kill you, they cut as they move and it burns bad. I was able to catch some of mine with a stainer, yes you had to pee through it. Again I hope this passes soon for you. Take care. Donna J.Eleanor Oster wrote: Nephrolithiasis. Guest guest
Randy My kidney stones were due to calcium, I had to take extra due to my bones break for no real reasons (brittle) and they don't mend well. So I get bone from my hip put in where it breaks with a nice long screw, three times in my feet. Anyways even with the calcium we take now after WLS my kidney doctor told me we have a higher chance of stones and we need that 64 ozs of and more if we can. So don't stop your calcium our body needs it, but drink all your water. Take care.
