Guest guest
Hi, everyone. Great responses to my post about the affair. The truth follows. I got an email from a postop, the usual story: This lady was totally miserable preop. Postop she'd worked hard and done really well. Then she started snacking, experimenting, etc...and now she's regaining. She says " I don't know what happened " . She says she can't help it. She says she tries, but ends up eating. You know the story, and you know all the reasons. I flashed on this thought: We value faithfulness in committed relationships. If one of us had an affair, we'd be all over it. Well, how is this so different from a sexual affair? We " married " our pouches and promised to be faithful to our meal plans. What if we thought about our food habits the way we think about sex? So I created the story of the affair as a parable. Read it back to yourself: Your responses were beautiful, supportive, and clear. Lots of energy there, lots of anger and sympathy. Now what about the affair that all of us are at risk for, the affair with the seductive Mr. Starchy? Martha
