Guest guest
HI Dawn, Good to hear that you are doing well and are up and about. Congratulations on the 14 pounds. I know it is hard when the family still goes about with there normal way of eating and you are still sipping away on your water. It will get better. Many do wear the Medic alert ID but I don't wear one but I have a card in my purse. I have some nerve damage and wearing things on my arms and neck drive me crazy after a while so I stopped wearing chains and watches and bracelets all together. When I went out of the country I did wear one though. Mostly because I didn't want to carry a purse when I went out. Mike is so great watching to make sure you are always having enough water on hand. So take care Ramona
Guest guest
Glad to hear you are well. Kaiser does recommend getting the medic alert id bracelt that reads " Gastric Bypass No Blind NG Tube " . I personally don't have one, and don't know any post-ops that have purchased it. Guest guest
Dawn, so glad to hear you're doing better. Remember that things in general should get a little easier as your health improves. Of course, the head hunger thing may be there forever, but you'll learn to deal with it. I hope you'll be able to make it home soon. Maybe we'll be seeing you in chat some Monday night soon... Take care Dawn. Ron Dawn One Week Post-Op Hello all...we are still on the other end of the country as I write this (hopefully flying home on Tuesday) At my one week follow up got my staples and drain removed (Glad to be free of those) and found I was down some 14 pounds from what I weighed the morning of surgery. That was a nice, unexpected surprise, as having had to stay in the hospital 6 days instead of the planned 2-3, all the IV's and such...I didn't expect to really see any weight loss at this first appointment.Aside from being totally worn-out and enxious to get home...between my longer stay in the hospital and some issues there, our 4 year old coming down with a nasty virus right in the middle of my discharge (and I assure you sitting for 6 hours in an ER just after wls and hernia repair is NO FUN) and our doctor refusing to allow me to fly till this coming week, I think our little family is holding it together pretty well...just road weary and anxious for our own little home.Am sipping all the time - hubby is on a constant vigile to keep my water jug filled and at hand but am finding it a major challange to get all my protein in each day and to manage any food to speak of...I just have to remind myself I have to eat because I really have little desire for it. Have had a few shakey moments (when the family went to McD's and Mom sat nursing her ice water while they ate...and last night they had pizza...not real hunger at all but that head hunger is a powerful force to reckon with.Anyway I just wanted to touch base personally with the group...Oh and just curious...the surgeon I used, his office insists I now wear a medic alert ID as a post-op...does Kaiser?Be well and safe alldawn
