Guest guest
Congrats on your trip!! Disneyland is basically the same as Disneyworld. What you get extra at DW is Epcot center, MGM Studios and I think that's it. The theme parks have the same rides pretty much. The map you get at the gate will show you where the handicapped entrance is for each ride. We have taken our kids on all the rides at Disney with the exception of Space Mountain and the places you have to walk. They will stop the rides for you if you need it. We always carried the boys on, sat them next to us and then held them on the ride. The slow ones were easy, but the roller coasters took some good core and thigh strength to hold on to them and keep them from sliding all over!! Being that Gabby is in a wheelchair that is your pass to use the handicapped entrance for her and up to 5 people in your party to get on the rides ahead of everyone else. Some you might have wait a while, but usually you get to go in the FastPass line. We had to wait about 20 minutes in line for the Haunted House and Thunder Mountain Railroad roller coaster. Those were the longest we ever had to wait. It's usually more like 5-10 minutes. With Make A Wish you may get other niceties that I am not aware of. There is a first aid station tucked back on Main Street where you can lay Gabby out to change her (if she's diapered), feed her or just let her rest. In addition to Disney, there are other theme parks in the area. Universal Studios is a great place to visit. It's about 45 minutes to an hour north (?) of Disney. The drive can be daunting if you're not used to crazy drivers and lots of traffic!! But it is a place I highly recommend if you can get to it. I hope I was helpful. Have a great time and let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. Guest guest
Hi ne, Congratuations! That is so exciting! I have found that www.disboards.com is a really good resource. It's mostly about Disney World in Florida, but you might try posting your question in the section called disABILITIES and see if anyone there has been to Disneyland. Sue, I'm curious to know if any of your trips were recently. I've never been to Disneyland, but I know Disney World has gotten tighter about letting people with disabilities go to the front of lines. We had to ask for a Guest Assistance Pass and explain that Emilie couldn't be out in the heat and stuff. We were allowed to use the Fastpass lines, but only because we had the pass, and I don't think there was any place we went to the front like we used to years ago. At WDW, the kids wearing buttons that identified the child as being on a wish trip did seem to special treatment, though. ne, did Make a Wish mention anything about a button? You might want to ask them. Hope you guys have an awesome time! mom to Emilie, 18, cp & mito Kaitlin, 18, cp Ian,

Guest guest
It might be different there, I went to www.disneyland.com -it took a few minutes to open, then went to mobility. Hope this works better. Sorry, if this doesn't work I'll try to send a more direct link. > [Original Message] > > To: <Mito > > Date: 3/12/2005 6:31:44 PM > Subject: Re: Disneyland tips please!! > > > > Thankyou for helping..but I am unable to open this site.Is there an > alternative? > ne > > > > > > http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disneyland/en_US/help/gsDetail? > name=Mobility > > DisabilityGSDetailPage > > > > > > this is a link I found, hope it helps > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Please contact mito-owner with any problems or questions. >
Guest guest
We " did Disneyland " with our Granddaughter (age 10 Mito, Rett Syndrome) and she MOST enjoyed the evening hours in the park with lights/music and their fabulous fire works display. We packed her bag with things she may need (including bottled water to drink). She doesn't tolerate heat so we went in April. Just inside the gate on the left you can check in at the visitors bureau and they will give you a special pass to get access to rides quicker for your little group. They can direct you to all the facilities you may need during your stay and answer any questions you may have. The wish granter may have pre-arranged some of these things for you. Unfortunately our " wish sponsor " didn't even have the admission paid for/the hotel paid for nor the car rental as planned. We found one rude surprise after another during our visit to California. The Characters were most accomodating to her in her " stroller " and for all photo opportunities she was greeted first! Disneyland did everything possible to make her time in the kingdom special - after learning of the numerous problems with our " wish granter " . Our family wishes you much joy on your big adventure. One little suggestion. Wear " matching " colors in your group to expedite getting off/on rides as a group. We found that we were being called the " red family " and we were all easily spotted when walking through the crowds and not possibly lost from sight! We were a party of 9! Happy Vacation..... Disneyland tips please!! > > > > > > > > Hi all, > > > > My daughter Gaby has been granted a trip to Disneyland (California) by > The > > Make A Wish Foundation!!This is a huge wish grant, as we live in > Australia! > > We will travel late July, early August fo a week. > > I know from reading your posts that most of those who go to Disney with > MOW > > go to Disneyworld, but are there any of you who have been to Disneyland Ca > > who can give some tips as well? > > We have been doing our research, and note the park has a booklet for > > disabled visitors, but it is only available at the gate (ie, not posted > > out!)Gaby is in a wheelchair, and is on a ketogenic diet vi G tube > > (intermittent feeds).
