Guest guest
Jackie, I have these "bruises" also and to my knowledge, there is nothing you can do for them. Mine usually fade away in about a week or so.........right now I have several on both arms and on my hands. Yes, it is not a pretty sight, but a lot of people seem to have them anymore and I have found that fewer people stare anymore. Sometimes they are caused by certain meds such as prednisone as you mentioned. As far as I know, it is just another thing that the old Sarc Monster holds over our head! Hugs, Darlene NS Co-Owner/Moderator Anyone Hi I have a question hopefully someone can answer. When I was is the Nursing Home with NS I kept getting these bruise like things on my arms and hands. They would bleed and become skin tears. I know it was from the prednisone I was taking. Know I am down to 5 mg a day. They were all but gone. Now for some reason I am getting them again. Not as bad as before but it is not a pretty site. I have been using skin bleach to try and remove the discolor and feel it was working to some extent. Now I feel like I have to start all over. Does anyone else get these and do you have any suggestions as how to either care for them or keep them away. I would really appreciate any help I could get. I really hate having old peoples arms at my young age. LOL (58 last Saturday) So if there is anyone that can shed some light on the problem PLEASE help. Thanx Jackie from Wisconsin
Guest guest
Jackie, Prednisone thins the blood, and makes us bruise very easily-- so do all the other immunosuppresants. Vit C is wonderful for helping to maintain blood vessel and artery health-- and it could be that you are very deplete in this vitamin. CoQ10 is also great for blood vessel health. This also is a sign of anemia-- so get a CBC-- and in the meantime, increase your B vitamins. Are you on Folic Acid? The MSM can also be ordered in a cream form, and you can put it on a bruise-- and it clears right up. Be careful with the skin bleach-- it can't be good for your system.
