Guest guest
let me first point out that Max did not get the wheelchair because of the pain in her legs. She received the w-chair because of a weakened respiratory system and all over muscle weakness, Everyone seemed real surprised when her leg pain virtually disappeared. On a day when Max has lots of activity (lots being a relative term) she will have leg and ankle pains at night. Prior to the w-chair we had an adaptive stroller. Max could never walk any kind of distance. When do you get a w-chair?? It will be different for every child. My observation is that eventually they kind of outgrow any kind of stroller, if for no other reason than associating the stroller with a little child/baby. We tried to teach Max early on to pace herself. We used something, and still do, called smart breaks. A smart break being a short rest period. We say: smart break time and this signaled it was a rest time. Then again there are times when we just let her have fun....it breaks my heart knowing the price she will pay, yet at the same time those are special times with special moments. Hope this helps a bit. just follow your heart rosy
