Guest guest
After you have see the nutritionist and had a pysch. evaluation your PCP sends your referral to the Bariatric Program. You should hear back from them I believe within two weeks. Meantime there are classes that is sounds like your provider wants you to go to. It will take about anywhere from 3 to 5 months ( maybe less but I doubt it ) before you go to Orientation comes after you have received your acceptance letter into the program. There reason for the delay is because of the overwhelming number of referrals that are coming into the Bariatric program on a daily basics. Once you go to orientation things do move faster. You do see the nutritionist and had another psych appointment again after you are accepted into the program also. When you go to see the nutritionist have everything written down from as far back as you can remember as to what you have done to lose weight. that helps with that appointment. Don't start to work on any weight lose yet because it won't count toward anything. The 10% doesn't start until orientation. Ramona
Guest guest
Welcome!!! You will love this group! As for the process, I can walk you through mine. I am out of SSF. I went to my PCP and asked July 19th. He referred me right a way. By July 22nd I had received my notice of approval. I had my psych eval few weeks after that and my PCP had to refer me to that. I never had to meet with a dietician. But that may be because I had met with one prior to this whole process. All my documentation for weight loss was in my medical record. Since I have pretty mush been with Kaiser all my life, it was all there. I got my orientation date about 3 months after I received my letter which took place on October 18th. I then had my appointment with Dr. Stiles and she was the one who told me how much weight I had to lose. That took place in December. After that I had an appointment for the Lifestyles III Class on Jan. 20th, my Bariatric Nutrician Appointment on Feb. 9th and my Lifestyles IV class on Feb. 10th. After that I was put on the waiting list and I have been attending Case Management Classes every month since. I have now received a surgery date and will be having surgery on May 8th. Today I am attending my Pre-op class. I hope this will kind of guide youn through your process. Smiles, Maridiana Orientation 10/18/05 - 257 Surgery 05/08/06 The 10% loss should be started the after you go to orientation. They will weight you (with clothes on) and that will be your starting weight. "G. on" wrote: Just getting started in the process. I met with my PCP last week and she sent the consult via the computer (to SSF per her comments). I got an appointmemt to attend a obesity group meeting in May. Where does this fit into the process? I saw in the posting 817 that "You will be required to have a dietician and psych eval for the referral. Your PCP will need to refer you to the dietician but you will be able to make the psych appt yourself. You should wait to do that after you see your PCP though. You will need to document at least one year of weight loss efforts." Is the Orientation everyone is refering to after the Psych, Nutrician, and the Obesity Group Meeting?Should I wait until after this meeting to get the Psych appointment?Should I start working on the 10% as I have a documented weigh in at the office during the consult visit? What have you all provided that met the requirement for documented weight loss efforts? My PCP is in Roseville.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Maridiana Saucedo Goddess (hehehe) (Cell) maridianas@... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Happiness keeps You Sweet, Trials keep You Strong, Sorrows keep You Human,Failures keeps You Humble, Success keeps You Glowing, But Only God keeps You Going!
