hi Lilka gosh sounds like you had a bad spell there, if things were that bad, i hope you called your doctor to report it, i am sure others have had the same type of problem, maybe you can still talk to your doctor to ask what to do if this happens again to you........... sometimes it happens to me and i am never really sure why, but not too many times, take care and dont be discouraged its weird how the body works and drops weight good luck ColleenLilka wrote: I have not been posting but I am here trying to keep up on all your news. Good luck to Randy, a really courageous man. I love your spirit. Take care Donna. These are hard times. I miss some of you but where am I? On my 9th week after surgery, I got constipation. I did

not go for 5 days and then I could not go. I took every over the counter thing I could find. Nothing. Someone told me to stop taking iron which I did every morning. I don't menstruate any more so why? They told me it gives you C. I stopped and a few horrible days later I finally went. But add three more days and I started fine, then I got 5 more chances before I ended with explosive diarrhea. All over everywhere. This was almost as bad as the C. Needless to say, I did not feel like writing. I finally lost about 5 pounds but they did not come off easily, either. 5 pounds in 4 weeks. I am disappointed but not devastated. I am too sedentary anyway. I am blaming the weather. My pool is now freezing again. But miracle of miracles, I can walk again without pain, after 10 years. I am so overwhelmed with gratitude for that alone, I have nothing to really complain about. I hope to start writing again. Thanks for listening. Love,

Lilka

I'm so sorry, Lilka. I had horrible constipation, too. I won't go into detail, but it was a miserable, miserable thing. And it definitely was the iron. You don't need to take it everyday unless you wind up being anemic. They told us once a week (unless they've changed their tune.) I had to take it more often, because my period started with a bang immediately post-op (not unusual), and i bled for two weeks. As for the weight loss issue, that can be tied to the constipation. Basically, your tummy is messed up right now, and you are healing. You are probably swollen. Make sure you sip like a maniac. For me, because water hurt initially, I ate a lot of the 15 calorie sugar free popsicles. This helped me to hydrate. i also found that warm mint tea (herbal, without caffeine) helped a lot, too. I could drink a lot more of that than I could of pure water in the beginning. Some people have bodies that are more rebellious than others. They fight fight fight to hold onto that weight. I'm glad to hear you aren't discouraged. Get out there and walk a bit, that will definitely help with your "regularity"...so you won't have to be taking medication. I took something called Senna-S which I got from the pharmacist. It is all vegetable...and it doesn't work immediately...but after two days or so, it works...and it's very very gentle. Good luck, and don't lose heart. Drink and walk, drink and walk. It will help you..to lose weight, and to lose the diarrhea/constipation factor.
