You wouldn't base a diagnosis of mitochondrial cytopathy on lactate levels alone. Most all labs have their own levels for all tests. You have to use lab norms. There are lots of reasons lactate levels could be high, most of them have nothing to do with mito. Fighting and squirming and the tourniquet alone could cause a mild rise in lactate levels.
