Guest guest
Hi everyone out there, my name is and I've just begun the process. Any advice for a novice? I have appts for first psych eval and nutrition. I've read lots on the whole g/b surgery, but would like some idea of a time frame. I am really excited but patience is not my long suit. I know I am in for a long hall, but I just want to know all I can to be as prepared as I can be.
Guest guest
Raedeniser, first and foremost, WELCOME. There is so much to learn about this process and the journey will be one that you will one day look back on and have so much to share about so hang on for the ride. The time frame...well, all I can tell you is that it varies from facility. For me it was a 3.5 months time frame from starting the process to the day of my surgery but others have taken anywhere as far as six months to 1.5 years. Please don't be discouraged because every one has a different situation and amount to lose to reach the 10% that is required. While going throug the 10%, try not to focus too much on that part but rather focus on the lifestyle changes that occur post surgery and be aware of the way you are eating pre opt because its pretty much how you will be eating post surgery. Journal and share what makes you happy and what makes you not so happy. We are all here to support and encourage one another before and after surgery and then way done the line. Try, if you can not to take things too personal or serious here that might be in response to something that you asked or said. I believe that we have a great group here and everyone is respectful and do their best not to step on anyone's toes or try to hurt anyone's feelings but sometimes responses are straight forward and will not be sugar coated. The intent is not to hurt you but to help you. So, if you can be open to advice and suggestions then that is wonderful. I wish you well as you begin this journey. Be encouraged! Guest guest
, You are from MOdesto? I live in Ripon what time is the meeting tonight? Yes, I plan on attending a g/b support grp here in Modesto tonight I think. It is not a Kaiser grp but I don't think it matters. I am concerned with the time it will take to lose the 10%. I'm sure that is the hardest part. Let's face it that is the problem! DUH!!! Thanks for responding. Where are you located? Keep me posted on your progress. > > azurewinds@... wrote: He , > Which program are you going to? I am through Richmond and just had my appt with the surgeon. It's good that you are already well read. The scariest thing for me was the psych appt. But that went easily. She liked it that I was already going to support group meetings, so you might want to consider that. All the programs are different I've heard. But for me, I was approved in September, had my first meeting on October and if I have lost the 10% by my next weigh in on May 3rd I will get a surgery date. So, 6 months so far, but they seem to have gone by really fast. > Good luck in your journey, > Pam > > > Newby > > > Hi everyone out there, my name is and I've just begun the > process.
