Max wil not have a blood draw without Magic Cream. We have not experienced any side effects. rosy, mom to max
Guest guest
We used the Emla also on Aspyn, but we found out after that children that are very hard sticks, it may not be good for because it actually causes the vein to shrink a bit (how I don't know) but after we found that out we stopped using it because it would take up to 10 times to get a good vein any way, but if the vein isn't hard to find otherwise, I would suggest using it also. Wayne, , Gentry and ~Angel Aspyn~www.aspynblock.com blood testing/ emla cream? When I was at the Cleveland Clinic we used Emla cream on my daughter Zoe ( 2 at the time) Cohen thought this was fine. It has made all the difference with my kids. It is lydocaine ( sp) 4 percent, there is a generic equivalent otc you can search down at pharmacies , but it is pricey and sold by the pharmacist. An intern at another hospital told me recently that in 1 percent of kids it can cause a seizure, however it is a topical cream and this intern seemed unsure. I would doubt that Cohen would okay it if there is a real harm. Zoe is at risk for seizures so I don’t think he would have suggested it. Just a thought, I do my daughters arms from the inside middle of the elbow down about 4 inches on both arms and it works great! Guest guest
Last I had heard Emla was pulled off the market (for home use) because the caps were not child resistant. There is an OTC product that it much cheaper and more likely to be covered by insurance called LMX. It works at least as well as Emla. Guest guest
What is this Emla Cream use for? I have never heard of it. TIA Marie
Guest guest
> What is this Emla Cream use for? EMLA and LMX (cheaper, works faster) are creams you put on the skin before a lab draw or IV insertion. They numb the skin.
Guest guest
We also use the Emla cream for Joe. It helps quite a bit with IV's, blood draws and we are going to start using it before his botox. To keep it in place, I was told to use plastic wrap. Just put the cream on and wrap the leg or arm. It is Magic Cream here too.
