Guest guest
I prepared this email last night but didn't get it sent through. I will send another OFFICIAL and more detailed update later ( regarding todays happenings!) I'll have more details tomorrow but I wanted to tell you guys that Carsen has been overdosed by A MISTAKE made by the PHARMACY! We called poison control. She said he was probably heavily sedated or just knocked out. She says sometimes cipro can make you feel "out there" and receiving a double dose is really increasing risk for side effects! There are lots of CNS side effects that can be potentially fatal, yes, even with an antibiotic. My children never seem to have the expected reactions medications. Usually opposite An adult dose is 1000mg per day. His concentration is mixed for 800mg per day! He' s only 26lbs vs and adult over 100lbs! Let's be glad that this is an antibiotic and not his heart medication! I guess I'd better check it since he's had no results on it yet! I'll fill you in tomorrow on what happens. I have several stops to make before confronting them. I will get my $110 back! BE SURE TO READ YOUR LABELS ON YOUR MEDICATIONS. My husband first suggested there might have been a dosage mix up and I said, "No, it says right here 4ml twice per day but I hadn't looked at the concentration and didn't bother to until I grew more concerned and decided to pull it out and look it over well. There it was! Between my friend Dawn (thanks Dawn!) and I, we figured out the exact concentration and called poison control to verify our shaky mathematical calculations. The pharmacist labeled it in grams not mg...but we figured it out. You just never think that a pharmacy will make a mistake. I was so sure and wasn't at all concerned about the dosage. He got DOUBLE what he's supposed to get, which is 400mg total per day! One might think it's an over reaction because it's "JUST" an antibiotic but it's really not "just" an antibiotic.. It's MEDICINE. You should never abuse any sort of medication. I'll tell you something else about the pharmacy while I'm venting.. We were waiting on a preauthorization for this cipro. I told the pharmacy I'd call the dr office to see if they'd heard anything. Pharmacist said fine I won't mix ANYTHING till you get here. The med is $110! Made sense to me! So, the dr office said yes, that it was preauthorized but only for the generic. I said it would be fine.. and called the pharmacy back to let them know we needed generic.. He said we have a problem...........he'd already mixed it...SO sure the preauth. would go through for brand! SO I HAD TO PAY FOR HIS MISTAKE! A 2 week supply was $110! Now, what IF, I hadn't had $110 to give him. Then what?! I shouldn't have done it. It was NOT my mistake. He jumped the gun and I had to pay for it. Now, let's see who pays, right! Sorry to sound so revengeful but this is my money and my child's health we are messing with. Thanks for reading this far if you have. I'll update tomorrow after I make my entrance!
