Guest guest
well the 1299 calorie plan that Kaiser suggested worked well for me.........but others have said that atkins worked for them well too, Maybe change up the exercise and mix the foods around and drink lots of water .......... good luck Colleen"Mrs. " wrote: Hello, my name is I am feeling so discouraged. I had my pre-op appointment with Dr. Fisher at kaiser richmond on Jan 27, 2006 I originally had to loose 35 pounds. I have 11 pounds to go to reach that goal. I have been following The Atkins Low Carb diet. I have only lost 3 pounds over the last month. I feel like my body is just holding on to this weight to spite my efforts. I know deep down this is not true, I was just wondering if anyone has any advice to help me get these last 11 pounds off fast. Guest guest
Hi Mrs ..My name is Barbara C and I had my surgery Sept 21,2005.I haven't said much but I do read alot of the posting on this board. We have all been there waiting for lbs to come off. In my opinion and I am sure you have heard this before but I would stick with the 1200 calorie diet not Dr Atkins. I would drink lot of water of course and join Curves. Work out at least 5 times a week.I guarantee if you do this the lbs will come off. Feb of 2005 I weighed 317 I now weigh 185. I started out a 4x and now in size 14. I am getting there but I still drink my water and I still work out at least 5 times a week. Mrs keep it going you will make it.. It is worth the time that you put into this life change. I hope this helps you at least a little , and I hope to hear from you soon saying your last 11 lbs are off. Barbara C --- " Mrs. " wrote: > Hello, my name is I am feeling so > discouraged. Guest guest
Atkins works better for men than for women. When women plateau on Atkins, that's usually all she wrote. Try the 1200-calorie plan instead, and eat lots of fish! Good luck - Randy > > Hello, my name is I am feeling so discouraged. Guest guest
Mrs. ...I have one word for you...PERSISTENCE. It will pay off but you got to stay with it. Atkins helps you lose anywhere from 10-15 pounds the first two weeks so your body is just adjusting to that loss. Increase your water and exercise if you are able to (walking is by far better than running, ect). The weight will come off but stay the course and don't lose focus and give up. I know it is not easy but we have all been there and have made it and so will you. Just don't quit no matter what the scale says. This is not a rush although I know you want your surgery like now. Just look at what you have lost and let that be your driving force as well as getting your surgery. Be encouraged. Pam Marsh --- " Mrs. " wrote: > Hello, my name is I am feeling so > discouraged. Guest guest
Hi : I know exactly how you feel. I met with my surgeon on February 16th, and he advised me to lose 10 more pounds. Well I finally lost them and it took me all this time. I would suggest drinking more water even more then 64oz, and increase whatever exercise you are doing. It may be hard at first but with slow gradual steps it will get easier. Sassy"Mrs. " wrote: Hello, my name is I am feeling so discouraged. Guest guest
What worked for me was really buckling down that last month 1/2 and increasing my exercise. I also pre-package all my food so I won't be tempted. I also made a pact to myself not to eat out at all - not even 1 time in the last month and a 1/2. Good Luck, your doing great and don't stop now. Guest guest
I GAINED weight on Atkins. Still haven't figured that one out. Guest guest
If you eat too much caloric volume on Atkins but do not exercise, you will gain weight, and if you eat excess fat while on Atkins and you have Eastern European blood, you will gain weight on Atkins. AND IF YOU CHEAT ON ATKINS AND EXIT BENIGN DIETARY KETOSIS, IT TAKES TWO WEEKS TO GET BACK INTO AN EFFECTIVE MODE AND YOU WILL, IN THE MEANTIME, GAIN WEIGHT FROM E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G YOU EAT!!!!! Atkins is a " no-splurge, no-exception, no-vacation " diet. It is DESIGNED to change your metabolic response to eating by the shifts, and if you shift back, you screw it up. To their credit, the Atkins people have always made this clear. If you wish to experiment with the " tipping point " AFTER you have lost x amount of weight and thus can expect metabolic changes because of changes in lipids and insulin resistance, that's one thing. But the people who fiddle with Atkins after the quick initial weight loss, or say " one sandwich with bread every day won't make a difference " and deceiving themselves. My doctor put me on Atkins (pre-Kaiser). I am convinced that the Atkins diet stabilized my blood sugar and made me feel better and more productive every day I was on it - and I'm also convinced that the amount of calories and fats I ate on the diet contributed massively to my coronary artery disease, my hear attack, and my congestive heart failure. The " ideal " Atkins, the " sensible " lower- fat, lower-calorie Atkins that was in the long-defunct first version of the book - that's a great diet for most people, especially men, if you can stick to it. But the eat-as-much-and as-much-fat-as-you- want later modern version is NOT for the morbidly obese. Randy > > > > Hello, my name is I am feeling so discouraged.
