Guest guest
Ann, I would check to see if your medical insurance may pay for the anesthetic and hospital stay because of the health risk. If you cannot fast they may require you in the hospital for the day before surgery as well. With the surgery, and especially oral surgery, you must fast because of the risk of aspiration if you were to vomit. I know it sounds cruel but is there any way you can cope being awake?? I used to work in oral surgery and we actally recomended people with health problems to try to go at it awake. You should be able to handle the nitrous oxide wich will make you very happy. They may even want to take it slower and do only one or two teeth at a time, this also makes recovery time easier. If you do it all at once, I highly reccomend getting something like Boost or Ensure before you even go. I know you know the importance of eating with mito, and remember you will have a sore mouth wich will make it hard. I actually had my last knee surgery awake due to issues I have had with anesthesia. I admit it was not the time of my life, but it did not hurt. Best wishes MSN Premium helps protect against viruses, hackers, junk e-mail pop-ups.
