I'm so sorry to hear Sheldon is going through this! I have no experience with seizures, but I wanted to let you know I'm praying for him. My son just got out of the hospital himself with a severe cyclic vomiting episode. It's the pits! Praying you get this figured out and he's well soon.

-- Sheldon's in the hospital - seizures?

We brought Sheldon in to the ER Friday because he was vomiting every

20 minutes. They started an IV, with the wrong solution first and

changed it once they talked to the geneticist. He vomited 18 times

Friday but only around 8 times yesterday and 3 so far today. The

current concern is that he's actually vomiting as part of a seizure.

It often starts when he's sleeping, he'll get agitated and completely

stiffen up with his head arched back. He tries to pull out the IV and

is agitated, vomits and then becomes completely limp, dropping his

head forward. At that point he is often unresponsive, sometimes his

eyes are closed and sometimes they are open, staring to the left.

Does this sound like a seizure? We haven't started any seizure meds

yet, we're waiting for an EEG, which we can't have done until

tomorrow since it's Easter. I know plenty of you have experience with

seizures. I just think it's strange that he goes through the same

sequence of things with each episode and that he's so unresponsive

for a time period afterward. Then he seems to snap out of it.

Just thought I'd update you all and see if anyone had any experiences

like this, I've been offline since Friday so I feel out of contact.

Thanks.

It sounds like a vaso-vagal response. My husband had a vomiting bug

that hit him so hard that he fainted in the bathroom and started

seizing. I had to call 911. The vaso vagal nerve runs up and down

through the middle of our body and if it is interrupted it makes the

blood pressure get really low which can bring on a faint and/or

seizure. He was told to try to put his feet up higher than his head

if he vomits or feels the sense that he going to faint. (My husband

is 6 feet and 190 lbs. normally a big healthy guy.) i would ask

Sheldon's doc about this.

Hope he gets better soon!

sorry to hear about Sheldon. Hope they can figure out what makes his body do this. What if the EEG comes back normal? Do they have a theory?

Keep us posted. Our best wishes are with you.

I think it could sound alot like Cyclical vomiting too. Have they tried

something to stop the vomiting like phenergan or zofran? Is he on d10?

Let us know the outcome and good luck!

That was my thought too when I read your post. Our son does very similar things during severe cyclical vomiting episodes.
