Guest guest
My son has not been diagnosed with mithocondrial disease although it is a posibility (only abnormal test so far has been lactate blood levels). I have read some posts in which you talk about vomiting episodes and that it is common on mito disease. This topic caught my attention since I have noticed over the years that the first sign of sickness of my son is vomiting. Just a day or so before a running nose, a cough or chest congestion starts, he vomits. Usually my son gets sick with upper respiratory infections or ear/throat infections. He has never had a stomach virus. He usually vomits after his bedtime bottle of milk, something that does not occur when he is healthy. My son suffer from GERD and asthma and I thought that the vomiting could be because of plegm that he does not know how to move or that his reflux gets worse just before getting sick. Now I am wondering if there is a connection between his vomiting and a possible mito disease. Can someone explain further about the vomiting episodes in mito kids? Why this occur and when? Is there something that trigger the vomiting episodes or they are just random episodes? My son gag reflex is apparently pretty strong. Once he starts to vomit he does not stop until his stomach is empty. After vomiting my son is fine, no pain or discomfort whatsoever.
