Guest guest
, Both of my boys have a sleep disorder. They always had the sweaty heads, too. It can be a symptom of a sleep disorder. They both had sleep studies to diagnose this. They both use a cpap machine at night for theirs. They only have the sweaty heads and necks now when they don't wear their machines (like when they have a nose cold). So, I know that is the cause for them. They both had this since babies, although they are now 9 and 13 years. Tell the doctor and good luck to you. Guest guest
For Grace it is typically related to low blood sugar. When the sugar drops too low, sweating is common. There are usually other sypmtoms though, including shaking, lethargy and irritability. You may want to have his blood sugar checked, just in case. You can give raw cornstarch before bedtime and see if it goes away. The cornstarch takes a long time for the body to metabolize so it usually maintains the blood sugar through the night. Another idea may just be him getting too hot. Many mito kids have heating issues. Just a few nights ago my husband was playing with Grace. She was putting the pillow over her head to hide from him. Anyways she fell asleep still hiding under the pillow. I went in the room a few min. later to check on her, pulled the pillow off and her head was soaking wet. Thankfully I did go in there because Grace has heat stroke very easily. Maybe you could try dressing him very cool and seeing if this helps. Guest guest
were in the same boat as on this one... would wake up DRENCHED in the middle of the night, shakey, soaking and freaked out... turned out his blood sugar was dropping... he now has to go to bed with a full tippy cup of soy milk (doesnt drink normal milk) and he will wake up and drink through the night... some nights he has to get up around 3am and ahve a few crackers if its particularily low... once we got his sugar under control the sweaty episodes stopped... Ive read about it being related to sleep apnea as well... definately worth asking the doc about! Guest guest
Hi roomies, Ellie very often has a sweaty head at night. She will be absolutely drenched!!! We flip her pillow (which will have a circle about 8 or 9 inches in diameter completely wet!), change her shirt and sometimes even have to wipe her down with a cold washcloth. She continues to sleep through all of this!!! If she does wake up, she is usually a little shaky and out of sorts... I never thought of relating it to a sugar issue...we don't check her sugar levels. How do you all do it? Also, is a sleep study necessary to diagnose apnea? I've often wondered if she has apnea...but I don't know how to tell... Hope everyone is doing well..
