Guest guest
Sorry it has taken me so long to post his first pitch story. We've been dealing with 12-18 seizures a day- ughhh!. We spent the morning of his pitch in the Er. I copied and pasted what I wrote in his cb journal about the day. Yesterday was AWESOME!!!! and I were so overwhelmed by the number of friends and family who came out to support us. It meant so much to us to see all of you there. We also know that there were quite a few people who could not physically be with us, but were sending us good thoughts. From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU. Thank you for helping make Wyatt's day so special. My Dad and Deb, my sister Jean, and my sister Shelly and her husband Bret were able to join us on the field. We arrived on the field towards the end of warm-ups. Just walking out onto the field gave us goosebumps. There were thousands of people there and they were going to watch my son through the first pitch. What an honor. We were all like kids in a candy store. Everyone had their cameras out taking pictures of the players and taking pictures of everyone taking pictures of us. People were coming down from the stands and hanging over the railing waving. We had permanent smiles on our face. (We still do!) There was so much pre-game activity. There was another boy who threw out the first pitch too. However we were told that he was the minor one and we were the major one. When he was done, the choir came out to sing the Nationl Anthem and then Wyatt was introduced. As were were walking out onto the field people were cheering and whistling. I looked over to the section where everyone was sitting and could see signs being held up for Wyatt. Of course I couldn't read them, but I knew they were for Wy. I'm not even sure what the announcer said other than Wyatt was from Golden Valley and that his MAW trip would be to go to spring training. The announcer said something about Wy not letting anything get in his way of doing what he wants to do. Then it was Wy's turn to throw out the pitch. put the ball into his hand and the announcer played the charge song (I think it was the charge song) and Wy threw the ball to the Twins Mascot. Then there was a huge round of applause and whistles. We were escorted off the field past the Detriot dug out and bull pen. As we were walking off from Detriot walked over to Wyatt and shook his hand and said way to go. He was so good looking. The twins guy looked at me after I said that and said well the 7 figures doesn't help either. We then walked past the bull pen and the entire bull pen gave Wyatt high fives. When we walked into the tunnel, Wyatt realized what happened and started to vocalize. That is when the emotion of it all just hit me. I could feel all of the tears welling up inside of me. I am crying right now as I write this. It was a first class act done by the Twins and Cold Stone. Then to have the Detriot players show genuine interest in my son it was too much. Add to that the reason why Wyatt had the opportunity to do all of this is because he is so ill, how can the tears not come. Afterwards we made are way around the dome to stop and talk to all of Wy's friends that came to support him. There are too many of you to mention personally. We know of 64 people for sure that showed up. Again we would like to thank you for making this day so perfect for Wyatt. As we were walking around 2 strangers recognized Wyatt and high fived him. I saw others look over and smile. The Twins had a 9th inning rally to win the game. So Wy has a perfect record now. We did get to keep the ball he threw out and we were given a Twins jersey. They didn't allow for autographs because there were too many people down on the field, but they will be sending us autographed memorobillia. That is a big word, not sure how to spell it. The girls had so much fun. They did not want to leave. When we arrived home they were running around. They wanted to play freeze tag outside. They stayed up until midnight. Wy had his meds, a tube feeding, and went straight to bed. He was exhausted from his morning spent in the ER. Okay onto his morning in the ER. It was an interesting one. We were put into a room immediately and the doc came to see us. After I started explaining a little bit about Wyatt, he realized I knew what I wanted and didn't question me anymore. He told the nurse to get the dilatin started. It was a 20 minute push and we should have been done and on our way. Of couse things don't work that easy for us. Wy's blood pressure started to drop dangerously low, 58/38 so we had to have an IV to get the pressure back up. He blew the first 3 lines. His veins are so beat up from all of the IV's that they just pop. He was in so much pain from one of them that he became very agitated and ended up pulling the IV out himself. The 4th one took and after an hour IV his blood pressure was up and we were on our way home.
