Guest guest
Hello! My son who is 6 years old has wore AFO's for the last 2 years. He is a big tip toe walker and will flip forward. Injuring himself many times. Several trips to the ER. Our Ortho doctor also calls his AFO's, outside muscles. They are great!!!! At first you will think you will never get use to them. Yet after a short time it will be just as normal as putting Ellie's shoes on each morning. You will have a hard time finding shoes. Yet once you realize what will work, then stick to that type. VANS, which are skater type shoes work great. They are very wide at the bottom. Long, tall, thin socks are the best. Little does he know, Joey wears girl socks because they are longer. Boy tube socks are too hot. We get really cute sraps for the front(which make him WANT to show them off) Right now we have flames, last we hade Camo. They do not look as bad as they use to years ago. We love are AFO's!!!! Tamaraikeleclaire wrote: Ellie just started PT at a specialty hospital and the first thing the therapist wanted to do was fit her for braces. I had suspected she would need them. I don't know anything about AFO's. ARe there any good sites on them? Are there any precautions I should know about. She said she will need it too just below her knee.Thank you, LPlease contact mito-owner with any problems or questions. __________________________________________________
