Guest guest
Hello everyone! I take care of an 11 year old girl who is too sick to attend school. We live in Iowa and was wondering if anyone knew Iowa's law about school having to pay for a tutor to come to her house? If anyone knows please chime in! Thank youAngel
Guest guest
I know you should be able to get home bound and I assume it it free but I recently attended a foster/adoption conference here in Des Moines and one class was how to work with the local schools and I asked questions specifically about schooling at home a special needs child (Asenath) and have a number you can call to find out any answer you possibly would have. Guest guest
My daughter is recieving Home Bound services through our school system. They faught me toothe and nail because they did not have a HB teacher and no HB student....I faught back! The time they will give you at least here is a max of three days a week. Since 's health has improved and she is able to go to school at least 2-3 days a week two hours each of these days her HB teacher comes on Fridays. cant do more than two hours at a time, its just to much on her. The HB services are free and everything they do is at no cost to you. When is really feeling low sometimes the teacher will come and just read to her while she lays on the couch. They modify alot. They also go on field trips sometimes when she is doing good! feels like a queen cause she gets that handicapped school bus with air conditioning all to herself!!!! I faught 5 years for that bus w/ A/C! Keep on them they have to provide this all you need is a doctors letter stating that this is whats needed. Blessings, Horsley home school Hello everyone! Guest guest
Our son was on homebound status last year. It was not worth the hassle and we now homeschool ourselves. Homebound status is usually short term and the classroom teachers design the teaching plan. Our homebound tutor wasn't even a certified teacher. The classroom teachers basically wanted the same work from our son who was at home. This is a terrible hassle and many subjects don't adapt well for the home--think lab in biology, typing, etc. We now use a homeschool program that grades the homwork and is available for any questions we have. We have found that this is a much better fit for us.
