Guest guest
I ran across this posting on another Yahoo Group, and thought it might be of interest to some individuals on this list. I am posting it with the permission of the original writer.... Sue I just read a fascinating article in the Family Voices in Oklahoma newsletter. Hope no one minds, I'm going to list it below.United Cerebral Palsy of Oklahoma, Inc.The article is titled "One Mom's Great Idea... And How You Can Help". "When Billie Lawson of Chelsea, Oklahoma, saw an episode of the TVseries Las Vegas about intelligent video security systems used in casinos topick up on body movements typical of someone who is cheating, Billiewondered if the same video system could be trained to monitor a child sothat if the child had a seizure in the night, the parent could be alerted. When Billie contacted a smart video system manufacturer, she was told thatthey could indeed develop a video system to detect seizures, but that theywould need videos of individuals having seizures in order to "train" thesoftware. The monitor would do more than just let parents sleep a little easier, or bethere to comfort their child. When hooked up to a VCR or DVR, they systemwould provide a more accurate accounting of they type of seizure, thefrequency, the duration, and the severity of the seizure. This informationcan be helpful for a neurologist who is trying to manage the medicationregime of a child with seizures. If you have a video with a clear, unobstructed view of a person having aseizure, please contact Billie Lawson at 918/789-5551, or by email atbadoner123@.... The video footage would be used solely for the purposeof "teaching" the software program to recognize a seizure. Also, contactBillie if you would be interested in participating in the testing phase ofthe monitor."
