Guest guest
I was wondering if anyone knew what can cause bruising on a leg all down the front? I know zach falls quite a bit cause he likes to run into things. He thinks its "fun". He did have low platelets for a bit but they're norm now. The legs are the only part they're bruising and its all down the tibia bone. Any ideas? mom to zach 4 ga2 alexis 6 __________________________________________________
Guest guest
s legs are CONSTANTLY bruised... I was really worried at one point, because it was seriously excessive, but his platelettes and blood work was all normal, so Ive chalked it up to a) his stumbling/falling, and hes 2... lol! But yea i used to get really freaked out at how much the fronts of his shins would be bruised but it never was serious in the end... If his platelettes and bloodwork is normal, and the doc isnt concerned i wouldnt be either... Keely > > > I was wondering if anyone knew what can cause bruising on a leg all down the front? Guest guest
, is always bruised too!!! I know it's because he fall and runs into things alot. I know people who are hypoglycemic bruise easier, I bruise really easy too. Zach sounds like my , always thinking that running into things are fun, or play falling etc... I don't think I'd worry to much, maybe mention it to the doc next time you're in. sarah wrote: I was wondering if anyone knew what can cause bruising on a leg all down the front? Guest guest
I get this. I am always discovering very large bruises on my upper legs. For me, it is due to scratching. I have two bad knees and the muscles are weak in my upper thigh. My right leg has nerve damage from too many surgeries. I cannot tell you why I tend to bruise easily from this, I just do. I think my legs are itchy from muscle twitches or just the numbness is bothersome when wearing constricting clothes. (I always notice more bruising when cold outside, and I'm wearing jeans.) Maybe Zach has some sensory issues, and the clothing is bothering him, causing him to be "itchy". Guest guest
My kids have a bleeding disorder. My guess is that many mito kids have bleeding disorders but they have not really been evaluated well. Just checking platelets, etc is not enough. Have they checked PT, PTT, platelets, von Willebrand's factor, factor 8, etc? Some kids have mucocutaneous clotting disorders. There are a whole bunch of things that can be checked. My son's von Willebrand factor is low/borderline. He gets DDAVP when he has a GI bleed or has a procedure.
Guest guest
Kaitlyn, my 9 yr old who is being screened is always bruised and gentics doc said that it was due her having thrombocytopenia. She is always bruised everywhere but worst on her legs. I dont think she has not ever had a bruise in some stage of healing on her legs since she was small. 13 mos- has bruising on his back along his spinal cord all the time for some reason as well , dont know if he has the same thing as oldest dd or not. > > > I was wondering if anyone knew what can cause bruising on a leg all down the front? Guest guest
Leah bruises easily on that part of her body. And she doesn't walk either. She wears AFO's during the afternoon at school and we notice that she will have a bruise on her leg some times; but not always. I thought it had to do with her low muscle tone. May be her teachers know why this happens. They always amaze me with their knowledge of things; especially when it comes to Leah.
